What is UNICEF and the Rights Respecting Schools Awards?

La Houguette Primary School has been awarded Gold by Unicef UK’s Rights Respecting School programme, which is the highest level of the award. The school has been working with Unicef since March 2019, achieving the gold award in May 2022.

Unicef is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. The Rights Respecting Schools Awards are granted to schools that show commitment to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging adults, children and young people to respect the rights of others in school. Gold: Rights Aware is the third stage of the Rights Respecting Schools Award. Gold schools have to show that they have fully embedded children’s rights throughout the school in its policies, practice and ethos.
