At La Houguette Primary School we aim to provide a Mathematics curriculum that allows children to not only develop their understanding of number, shape, measures and patterns but also to develop their skills of problem solving. Alongside this, children are encouraged to communicate their knowledge and understanding of key skills and concepts in ways other than the written form. This can include: symbols, diagrams, the use of equipment and spoken language to explain their thinking and understanding.

We strive to provide learning opportunities that promote enjoyment of mathematics where children can become confident and motivated mathematicians. Additionally, we seek to ensure all children are able to apply their knowledge and skills across the curriculum and in their everyday life.

Our curriculum is aligned to the Bailiwick Primary Curriculum. We use White Rose Maths as it supports our school belief that mathematics should be represented in different forms and this is modelled through the use of concrete, pictorial and abstract representations. White Rose Maths ensures progression and coverage across all key areas of the mathematics curriculum.
